The Family Community Credit Union is unique because it is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial organization. It was formed in May of 1960. In order to become a member, you were required to have a union affiliation. In 1982, the members voted to become a Community Credit Union so services could be extended to anyone who lived or worked in Floyd County. This was when our name changed to Family Community Credit Union. Over time we have expanded so that we now have offices in Charles City and New Hampton and we now serve a 6 county area. If you live or work in Floyd, Butler, Mitchell, Chickasaw, Howard or Worth County, you are eligible to join. After joining, your family members are then able to join regardless of where they live or work.

We were originally formed with the motto: "Not for Profit-Not for Charity-But for Service" and the motto still holds true today. We are governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that is chosen by the membership. They and the staff do everything they can to provide the best possible service to our members.

Becoming a Member

You must be in our field of membership to join the Family Community Credit Union. You must live or work for a business located in Floyd, Butler, Mitchell, Chickasaw, Howard or Worth County. After joining, your family members are then eligible for membership. Family members are defined as: Spouse, sons, daughters, dependent children, foster children, adopted children, stepchildren, parents, brothers, sisters, parents-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, grandchildren and stepgrandchildren of the primary member. These persons can join through the family affiliation no matter where they live or work. Becoming a member is as simple as opening a share savings account with a minimum deposit of $5.00. We currently serve 5,100 members and we would be glad to explain our services.
